A SpaceX capsule brought four astronauts from the US, France and Russia back to Earth on Thursday after an eight-month mission on the International Space Station.
The crew had originally rushed to the station to replace an ailing colleague in what NASA described as its first medical evacuation in 65 years of human spaceflight.
Their homecoming was delayed by three weeks because their replacements arrived late due to capsule repairs, but all four splashed down safely off the coast of Los Angeles.
