Hurricane Isaias has battered the US Gulf Coast, knocking out power to more than 750,000 homes in Florida and Alabama after making landfall as a category 2 storm.

Hurricane Isaias, the first Atlantic hurricane of the 2026 season, made landfall near Destin, Florida, with sustained winds of 105 miles per hour.
More than 750,000 people across Florida and Alabama were left without power, with Alabama and the Florida Panhandle hit hardest.
The storm has since weakened and is forecast to dissipate on Sunday, but the National Hurricane Center warned of ongoing flash flooding and landslide risks.
