Rubio, Hegseth reportedly eye exits in the wake of midterm shellacking
After Republicans lost the midterms badly, Marco Rubio is reportedly eyeing a 2028 presidential run while Pete Hegseth may be headed to the Senate.
Marco Rubio reportedly wants to run for president, while Hegseth has another gig in mind.
Two of Trump's top cabinet members are reportedly planning exits following the Republican Party's historic midterm election losses.
Rubio would need to resign as Secretary of State to run for president, while Hegseth could be appointed to a Tennessee Senate seat vacated in January.
Rubio has publicly denied the reports, calling them fake news, but the legal rules around his cabinet role mean a resignation would be required to run.
