The United States warned yesterday that hostilities between Saudi Arabia and Iran-backed Houthis could "escalate rapidly" after a missile attack targeted Riyadh for the first time since the Yemen conflict resumed.
Iran-backed Houthi forces launched ballistic missiles and drones targeting Riyadh and Saudi oil facilities, marking the first such attack on the capital since the Yemen conflict resumed.
An Aramco fuel tank was seen on fire near Riyadh's airport, while the Houthis also targeted the Red Sea port of Yanbu, an important Saudi oil export hub.
The US State Department warned the conflict could escalate rapidly and urged American citizens to seriously reconsider travel to and through the Middle East region.
