Manchester City appeals guilty ruling of breaking EPL's financial rules
Manchester City has appealed its Premier League guilty verdict for using fake contracts to inflate revenue by over £900 million across nine seasons.
Manchester City denies the Premier League's finding that it used "sham" commercial contracts as part of schemes to inflate revenue and understate costs.
Manchester City lodged a formal appeal against the Premier League commission ruling that found the club guilty of serious financial rule breaches.
The club was found to have used sham commercial contracts to inflate revenue and understate costs by more than £900 million over nine seasons from 2009-10 to 2017-18.
An independent three-member appeal board will review the decision in private, with potential sanctions including fines and points deductions still on the table.
The appeal board must hold a hearing within 12 weeks and deliver a verdict within 30 days after that, so a final outcome is expected by early 2027.
