Brodie Kostecki was denied a fourth-straight Bathurst 1000 pole, but he wasn’t even angry.
Twenty-two-year-old Supercars rookie Zach Bates won the top-10 shootout on Saturday to claim pole position for the 2026 Bathurst 1000.
Bates went nearly three tenths of a second clear of Brodie Kostecki, denying the Ford driver a record-breaking fourth consecutive Bathurst 1000 pole position.
Even Kostecki was all smiles for the young rookie, saying he loves an underdog story, with the Great Race itself set to get underway at 11.15am AEDT on Sunday.
